An unpublished fragment attributed to anatole D’alexandrie

Abstract

This article gives a critical edition of a fragment attributed to Anatole in Alexandria Coislin Anthology, an anthology of Byzantine 9th-10th century. First, Anatole is located briefly in its historical context. Its importance for the calculation of Easter date can not be overstated, he had brought against the 19-year cycle, enneakaidekaëkateris in the Christian world. In this article, several contentious or unclear aspects of the fragment quoted in the Anthology Coislin are discussed. Follows a critical edition of Greek text and an annotated translation.
