Abstract

The narrative about the personality of the human being is created on the basis of his experience of the outer world surrounding him and what remains of that experience in his inner world. The purpose of this article is to recreate a musicological narrative about Roberto Falabella, both as musician and composer, on the basis of new readings and fresh views about the story of his life. This narrative has a close relationship with the text being narrated and will lead to the identification of both the ethics and the aesthetics supporting his being and his work. Besides it will serve as the basis of an hermeneutic analysis of two compositions –the Estudios emocionales for symphonic orchestra (1957) and the Sonata for violin and piano (1954)– which are so apparently dissimilar.
