El futuro de la educación

Resumen

Habermas ha criticado la opinión de que las mejoras educativas y genéticas sean eventos paralelos (2001, 91). Yo, por otro lado, proporcionaré razones para postular que hay una analogía estructural entre el mejoramiento educativo y el genético, al punto de que la evaluación moral de estos dos procesos debería considerarse también como análoga. Demostraré que una afirmación del mejoramiento educativo insinúa una afirmación del mejoramiento genético. Cabe añadir que ofrezco razones de por qué ambos tipos de mejoramiento deberían avalarse. Proceré de la siguiente manera: primero, explicaré la relevancia de la cuestión considerando al transhumanismo y posthumanismo. Ambos son movimientos filosóficos y culturales contemporáneos en los que la cuestión concerniente al mejoramiento es central. En segundo lugar, compararé el mejoramiento educativo y genético, mostrando luego que las razones que Habermas expone respecto de su relación son implausibles. En la conclusión me referiré a la relevancia de esta perspectiva para el futuro de la educación, cuando se vuelva necesario transformar las humanidades a metahumanidades.
